In our manufacturing facility in Traverse City, Michigan, we can create that special floor for your residential or commercial project. While many species of flooring are imported and stocked on the East Coast for immediate shipment, lumber is brought in to our plant for the manufacturing of custom flooring, stair parts, moldings, feature strips and inlays. Engineered Flooring
Along with the largest selection of solid flooring available, REH also offers the Rare Earth Hardwoods Reserve line of engineered flooring. With thickness’ from 3/8” to 1 ¼”, width between 2 ¼” and as wide as 8”, plus any combination of species and grades within the same project, REH can manufacture the floor to match your creativity. We bond a 3.5mm or 5.5mm wear surface over a multiply substrate for durability and stability. Your options include quarter sawn, end grain and highly figured lumber unlike anything else available on the market. By utilizing an engineered construction REH not only offers a more stable product, it also allows us to maximize the product yield of lumber that is limited in availability. Pre-finished Flooring
REH stocks some of the more common species in pre-finished with a micro bevel on all 4 edges. Flooring that we manufacture can be milled with any type of bevel desired for a pre-finished application. Though it is our opinion that the best looking floors are site finished by a qualified flooring contractor, there are definitely times when pre-finished flooring is a good choice and we will be glad to work with you if that is your requirement.

Herringbone
Herringbone flooring is available from REH in any of the species and grades that we offer for strip flooring in both solid and engineered. Typical widths for herringbone are 2 ¼”, 3” and 4”. Lengths are a mathematical equation of width times a whole number. Example, 3” wide herringbone works in lengths of 9”, 12” 15” etc. Herringbone is a classic floor design which can be used to fill a room or as part of a design incorporating other flooring products. Often you will see herringbone as part of the field framed by an inlay border or feature strips.
Parquet
Parquets are available in a large variety of geometric patterns and we are always glad to create the floor to your design. Parquet panels can be manufactured to any size desired out of virtually any combination of species. REH parquets can be manufactured square cut or beveled and are unfinished. Because of the smaller pieces of wood used and their layout in opposite directions, parquets will be more stable than a strip floor.
