Rare Earth Hardwoods and the Environment

Rare Earth Hardwoods has been in the exotic hardwood business for over 25 years as an importer and manufacturer of flooring and related products. We buy from reputable mills around the world and to the best of our knowledge these mills obey all the laws of their respective countries. Many times these laws and regulations are more strict when compared to the regulations in the United States. As an example, the Rare Earth Hardwoods products that come from Brazil originate in forests which are managed by the government of Brazil. The principle organization for management of these forests and other vital ecosystems is the Brazilian Institute of the Environment or IBAMA. This Institute could be compared to the combination of the Department of the Interior, the Department of Natural Resources and the Environmental Protection Agency here in the United States.

If there is a need for more details about a particular specie or forest management program, we can provide more information in regards to the specific request.

"Top of Environmental Quality" Award from the Brazilian Parliament

Rare Earth Hardwoods and its company-owned manufacturing facility in Brazil, Zero Impact Brazil (ZIB), recently earned the "Top of Environmental Quality 2007" award from the Order of Parliamentary of Brazil (OPB). OPB noted in its letter of recognition that it values and encourages the initiatives of the company in the treatment of the environment, saying that it shows great responsibility in helping to establish and maintain "harmony in nature and the biodiversity of the planet." ZIB is now authorized to use the "Top of Environmental Quality" stamp in all of its products, services and media materials.
